"Si" Simons, 73, a former Dumas, Texas, resident, died Monday, June 7, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Spring Creek Baptist Church at Willow, Okla. Burial will be in the Willow Cemetery by People Co-Op of Lone Wolf, Okla. Mr. Simons was born in Kenefic, Okla., and was raised around the Willow/Ocina areas before moving to Dumas in 1942. He was a World War II veteran of the European and Pacific theaters. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He married Lavita Brinkman in 1943 at Altus, Okla. She died in 1987. He married Nita Gay Franklin Martin in 1991 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife, Nita; two sons, James Rodney Simons of Borger, Texas, and Gary Lee Martin of Elk City, Okla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be to Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospice, 6010 W. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
