   Melvin Ray Smith
   FRITCH - Melvin Ray Smith, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998.
   
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Garden of Love at
   Westlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of Lake Meredith
   Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell
   Funeral Directors.
   
   Mr. Smith was born in Elk City, Okla. He had been a Fritch resident
   since moving from Darrouzett Station in 1979. He was a World War II
   veteran of the Navy as a machinist mate 3rd. He retired after 19 years
   as an operating engineer with Phillips Pipeline Co. He was a Methodist
   and a member of the American Legion in Beaver, Okla.
   
   He married Roberta Smith in 1949 at Perryton.
   
   Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick E. Smith of Booker and
   Walter R. Smith of Pointe Noire, Africa; two brothers, Bobby Dean
   Smith and Edward Smith, both of Beaver; a sister, Dovie Smith of Enid,
   Okla.; and four grandchildren.
