All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Oklahoma Damie Lee Smith Wooten TEXHOMA, Okla. - Damie Lee Smith Wooten, 98, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Dumas. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Texhoma Methodist Church with the Rev. Dane Timmons officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Wooten was born in Elk City. Before living in Texhoma from 1944 until 1949, she lived in Duke for one year and in Weatherford for nine years. From 1935 until 1944, she lived in Goodwell, where she worked for Oklahoma Panhandle State University. In 1949, she returned to Goodwell, where she and her husband managed the cafeteria and student union at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. She returned to Texhoma in 1970. She was a longtime member of Texhoma United Methodist Church. Her husband, Carl W. Wooten, died in 1975. Survivors include a son, LeCarl "Bill" Wooten of Angel Fire, N.M.; two daughters, Scottie Hopson of Texhoma and Delores Lassiter of Kerrville, Texas; a sister, Birdie Hamrick of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to United Methodist Church of Texhoma. Amarillo Daily News April 24, 2000
