All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Neal Young HEREFORD - Neal Young, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Danny Allenbaugh, pastor of Church of the Nazarene of Levelland, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home. Neal Young was born June 5, 1921, in Sayre, Okla., to James and Pearl Young. He moved to Deaf Smith County with his family in the early 1930s. Neal graduated from Hereford High School in 1939. He worked with his Dad as a carpenter in his early life. He married Betty Massey on Oct. 5, 1946, in Hereford. Neal served in the Navy as a Seabee and was a veteran of World War II. He also served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. Neal served as Deputy Sheriff for Deaf Smith County in the early 1950s. He owned and operated Neal Young Trucking Company for many years. Mr. Young was a member of the American Legion and was active in the Hereford Senior Citizens Center. He loved model trains and especially enjoyed setting up the train display at the Festival of Trees. He was a member of First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church. In 1978, Neal moved to Levelland where he owned a business. He retired and moved back to Hereford in 1991. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E and Pearl Young; and a brother, Edward Young. Survivors include a son, James N. Young Jr. and wife, Mary, of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Dr. Cathy Malouf and husband, Tony, of Levelland; a sister, Frances Euler of Friona; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045.
