Creach Hammon Auditorium with Reverend Dolan Ivy officiating. Interment will follow at the Red Star Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City. Ila Jean Johnson was born February 4, 1927 and left this earth to be with her Lord and Saviour July 15, 2007. Jean was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to Earl Brown and Flora (Parks) Brown and was raised on the Washita River near Hammon during the dust bowl days. She attended Hammon schools where she met her husband Pete Dean. They were married July 12, 1942, and lived and worked on their farm and ranch until Pete's death in 1977, Jean dearly loved those red hills and her family. No one ever left her house hungry; she was known as the best cook in Western Oklahoma. Jean made a showplace of there little four room house and later as it was enlarged. Everyone was always welcome, she loved to entertain. Jean married Dale Johnson March 16, 1979. They continued to live and work on the homeplace. They enjoyed going to rodeos together. Dale passed away July 24, 1997. Family, friends, and her church family were always at the top of her list of priorities. She attended the United Methodist Church in Hammon. Jean was extremely close to her two sons, Jerry and Gary Dean; they all appreciated the country life. Everyone in the family joined in for cattle round up time. Hard work, laughter and good food was abundant. Jean was also accomplished in the art of flower arranging. Everyone in the family was blessed with her many beautiful arrangements. Jean left her beloved ranch and moved to Elk City in 2001. She enjoyed lunch dates with family and friends and attended the Red Hatter's meetings. Jean spent many happy hours at the Elk's Lodge with her numerous and dear friends. Jean Dean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pete Dean and Dale Johnson. She is survived by her sons Jerry Dean and wife, Ida, of Hammon, Gary Dean and wife, Sandy, of Hammon and stepdaughter, Rhonda Scott and husband Jerry; her grandchildren D.D. Stowe and husband, Tony, of Elk City, Kami Blankenship, of Elk City, Jessie Russell and husband, Charley of Shamrock, Texas, Candy Dean of Oklahoma City, Jacy Dean, of Hammon, Sonya Sheilds and husband, Davey, of Canada, Jamey Helms and husband, Matt, of Amarillo, Texas, Kasey Slavonic and husband, Blake, of Amarillo, Texas, Darren Norman and wife, Tamara of Guthrie, Jason Norman, of Hammon, Kip, Kory, and Kyla Scott. Jean leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and one sister, June Warner and husband Jack numerous extended family members extended family members and a host of loving friends.
