All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sayre-Doxey Cemetery--Sayre OK The Sayre Daily Headlight, Monday, March 19, 1973 pg 1 John Lakey Tuesday rites are set Johnny Lakey, 509 West Elm, died in the Sayre hospital Sunday following a short illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. in the Assembly of God church. Rev. Bobby Creps and Rev. Nath Franks will officiate. Born March 19, 1904 in Oklahoma Territory, Mr. Lakey attended school at Delhi and graduated from Hext High School. He married Dovie Ann Cribbs January 17, 1934 at Mangum and they moved to Sayre. He was employed by the Thomas Service Station until 1959. He operated the Courthouse Conoco Station. He is a charter member of the Sayre Assembly of God church where he served as Sunday school superintendent 40 years. He served on the church board since 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, two sisters, one brother. Survivors are his wife of the home; one son, Larry of Ft. Worth, Tex.; two grandchildren, Velda and Stanley Lakey; two brothers, Lewis of Ravenden Springs, Ark.; Thomas of Roswell, N.M.
