The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** LANEY SERVICES HELD AT LONE OAK CHURCH 1936 Self Inflicted Bullet Wound In Temple Fatal To 21-Year Old Farmer Near Sayre Services for William Henry Laney , who pressed the muzzle of a 22 rifle to his temple 4:00 Saturday afternoon and blasted himself into eternity, were conduct ed at Lone Oak Sunday afternoon with Rev. Thomas Bolton in charge. Laney shot himself at his farm eight miles northwest following an alleged quarrel with his wife. Mrs. Laney is said to have been lying on the bed following the argument and turned around to look at her husband just as he shot himself. The deceased is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Emmit Laney. He was born April 19 1915 at Mangum and became a member of the Christian church while still a child. Survivors are his wife Mrs. Lavern Laney, a six-month old daughter, parents, five brothers, and six sisters. Internment was made at Lone Oak cemetery with Moore funeral directors in charge
