Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Christian Church with Kerry Hookstra, minister from Erick, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Kersten was born Dec. 2, 1929, in Wellington to Emil Kersten and Erma Faye Childress Kersten. He married Joyce Neeley on Oct. 2, 1949, in Wellington. He graduated from Wellington in 1948. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was a retired welding shop owner. He was a lifetime resident of Wellington except during World War II, when he lived in Ashdown, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2001; and a brother, Calvin Kersten in 1992. Survivors include three daughters, Rhonda Joy Rutkowski of Canyon, Pamela Odom of Dimmitt and Kathy Kersten of Panhandle; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church or Wellington Cemetery Association. Amarillo Globe-News, May 22, 2002
