Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Texola Baptist Church with Charlie Floyd officiating. Burial was in Texola Cemetery by Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home of Erick. Mr. Matthews was born in Houston and grew up in Clute, Texas. In 1978, he moved to Texola where he was a self-employed entrepreneur. He married Linda Wilkinson in 1994 at Lake Tahoe, Nev. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Elaine Matthews, and a son, Douglas James Matthews. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joel Matthews of Canfield, Ohio; a daughter, Casey Eberle of Durango, Colo.; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, March 9, 2000
