"Bill" Mabra was born October 2, 1914 in Alma, AR to Bessie Lea and George Robert Mabra and passed away February 25, 1993 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 23 days. Bill moved with his family from Arkansas to the Canute and Merritt communities before moving to Reydon. In 1942 he entered U.S. Army where he served his country during World Warr II. In 1946 he returned to Reydon where he worked for S.S. McColgin and also farmed. He later moved to Booker, Texas where he worked as a mechanic for the John Deere Dealership before returning to Reydon to make his home where he farmed. W.J. "Bill" Mabra married Opal P. Lane on June 3, 1970 in Wheeler, Texas and Bill went to work for Roger Mills County until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 4 step-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Opal, of Elk City, 3 stepsons, Lester, Amarillo, Texas, Donnie of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Ronnie, of Amarillo, Texas, 1 stepdaughter, Jana Kay Holley, Apache Junction, Arizona, 1 sister, Mable Taylor, Erick, Oklahoma, 20 step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Februaary 27, 1993 at the Reydon First Baptist Church officiated byv Allen Mabra. Interment will be in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
