E. "TOM" NEELY ARE 2 P.M. TUESDAY IN SAYRE CHURCH Services for T. E. "Tom" Neely, 63, pioneer Beckham countian and long time county treasurer, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist church in Sayre with Rev. Leonard Cronin officiating. Mr. Neely was born Jan. 11, 1892, at El Reno and died from a sudden heart attack at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Fort Work, Texas home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Huckins. Mr. and Mrs. Neely had gone to Fort Worth for a weekend visit with his daughter and family. He had worked at the treasurer's office all last week and apparently was in good health. However, some few months ago he had been stricken with an attack and spent several weeks recuperating. He moved from El Reno to the western part of the state in 1906 and settled at Erick. Later he moved to Texas and lived there until moving to Sayre in 1919. Mr. Neely started his fourth consecutive term as county treasurer this year and had served the county as deputy treasurer under the administrations of Treasurers Bud Barker and Arthur Allen. Survivors are his wife, Anna of the Sayre home; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Huckins, Fort Worth, and Mrs. H. A. Lee, Jr., Tulsa; one son, Ronald "Cotton"; Neely, Lubbock, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Hallie Neely, Shamrock Texas. And sisters, Mrs. Byron Adams, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Sally Byrd, Dalhart, Texas; Mrs. Byrl Sewell and Mrs. Bert Downer, Texola; two brothers, John Neely, Shamrock, Texas, and L. R. "Rip"; Neely, Texola. Also six grandchildren survive. Burial was in the Erick cemetery with Moore Funeral Home, Sayre, directing arrangements.
