Everything that medical science and attention could do was done, but the heart trouble made treatment for the pneumonia difficult and every effort proved futile. Mr. Pyle came to Beckham county with the first settlers and located on a homestead near Erick. something like 31 years ago, he endured the hardships incident to the pioneer of those day and shouldered his share fo the burden of reclaiming this then, wild country and building civilzation for his followers to enjoy. Mr Pyle has been engaged in busineess in Erick for many years and at the time of his death conducted a real estate and insurance business in the First National Bank building. The news of his death brought sadness to those with whom he has been associated so many years and expressions of sorrow and regret were heard on every hand. He is credited with having been a factor in the establishment and upbuilding of the Town of Erick, and as a mark of respect the business houses of the city were closed during the hour of the funeral. He was a charter member of Erick Lodge A.F.& A.M. and continued a member to his death. The Order had charge of the internment and laid the body to its final rest with the beautiful ritual of that order. And not only was Mr. Pyle a builder of the future of Erick, and identified with its progress, but he was a splendid citizen in every sense of the word, his home life being full and complete and his influence exerted for the better things of life. He obeyed the gospel and united with the Church of Christ in early boyhood and remained faithful to her end.
