Velma attended school at Berlin before graduating from Elk City High School. She attended Teachers College and began teaching at Mulberry and later taught at New Liberty and Eden View. She married A.J. Reeves on March 29, 1930 in her parnets home in Berling. they lived in Erick a short time before returning to the Berlin community to make their home. she had attended the Berlin United Methodist Church, Sayre Assembly of God Church and the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Midland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, one son-in-law, Don Carey, three great grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, A.J. Reeves; two daughters, Mayrene Carey of Sayre, Vonell and Wayne Black of Odessa, Texas; one son, Gayle and Nova Lena Reeves of Midland, Texas; one brother, Walter Klopfenstein of Tuttle; one sister, Zella Hart of Elk City; 10 grandchildren; 3o great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Servies were held today at the Rose chapel officiated by Rev. Gayle Reeves and assited by Rev. Roger Klopfenstein. Interment will be in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral service.
