   Chauncey V. Rice was born at DuQueene, Ill, March 9, 1894. He answered
   the  call  of  the  death  angel  about  three  o'clock Monday morning
   September  6, 1937. The end came at his home in Cheyenne, Okla., after
   an illness of about two months.
   In  1911  he  came  with his parents to Hammon, Okla. He finished high
   school  at  Elk  City  in  1913. In 1916 he was married to Miss Muriel
   Dugger  of Hammon. To this union were born four children: Helen Marie,
   Nellie  Carol, James Arthur, and Chauncey V. Jr. The children were all
   at  home.  In  1924 Mr. Rice moved to Cheyenne and engaged in business
   here  and  at  the time of his death was owner and manager of the Rice
   Department Store.
   In childhood Chauncey was conveted and joined the Methodist church. He
   lived  and  died a faithful member of that church. His last service in
   his  church was on Sunday evening before he was stricken on Monday. In
   this  service he led the singing at the beginning of our revival. That
   beautiful  voice  is  stilled forever here but has joined the Immortal
   Choir,  that  Angelic  Host  which makes the Heavenly music around the
   Eternal Throne in that Home not made with hands.
   He  was  a  member  of  the Masonic Lodge and the Kiwanis Club. He was
   interested in all moral and civic improvemnet in the community. He was
   always found on the side ofe righteousness.
   "Life's labor done, as sinks the day,
   Light from its load the spirit files.
   While heaven and earth combine to say,
   'How belst the righteous when he dies."
   He  leaves behind him his wife and children of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; his
   father  and  mother,  Mr.  and  Mrs.  N.A. Rice, of Hammon, Okla.; two
   sisters:  Mrs.  H.M.  Parks  of  Forgan, Okla.; and Miss Ruby Rice, of
   Hammon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
   Funeral  services  were  held  Tuesday  at  3:30 p.m. in the Methodist
   Church  of Cheyenne. Rev. Oscar E. Hill, the pastor, had charge of the
   services and was assisted by Rev. J.W. Carleton, pastor of the Baptist
   church  of  Cheyenne;  Rev.  J.H.  Bradley,  of McAlester, Oklahoma, a
   former  pastor  of  the  Baptist Church of Cheyenne; Rev. R.W. Menard,
   pastor  of  the  Methodist  Church  of  Hammon,  Okla.;  and Rev. J.O.
   Peterson, pastor of the Methodist church of Erick, Okla.
   Interment  was  made  in  the  Red  Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills
   County, Oklahoma. At the grave the Masonic rites were conducted by the
   Cheyenne lodge.
