L. Rice Funeral services for James Leonard Rice will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Martin Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. J. L. was born July 25, 1899, in Montague County, Texas and died early Wednesday morning at the Clinton Regional Hospital at the age of 91. He moved with the family from Texas to a farm in the Bella Vista community in 1922. He was married to Ruby P. Price in January of 1926 here in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death March 17, 1977. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life and had lived in the Elk City community for over 63 years. His church preference was Church of God. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Emma Kettler, and her husband Charles of Tuttle; two brothers, Herschell Rice of Pomona, Calif., and Hillery Rice of Anderson, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Litrell of San Pablo, Calif., and Mrs. Vivian Maxey of Perkins; one grandson, James Nelson Blalock and his wife Janeene of Oklahoma City; two great-grandchildren of Oklahoma City.
