Rose's Death Announced Early Today Solon E. Rose, 65-year-old former pioneer resident of Elk City area, died in Sacramento, Calif., Wednesday, July 17. His body will be returned to Elk City for burial. Funeral arrangements when complete will be announced by Martin-Hullum funeral home. The Elk City Daily News, Wednesday, July 24, 1957 pg 1 Solon E. Rose Rites Slated For Thursday Services for Solon E. Rose, Sacramento, Calif., former resident of this area, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Martin-Hullum funeral chapel with Dr. Albert E. Gregg, Presbyterian pastor, officiating. Born July 22, 1891, in Wichita Falls, Tex., Mr. Rose died at his home in Sacramento, Wednesday, July 17. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Rose was married July 28, 1920, in Elk City to Violet Hicks. He is an early day resident of Oklahoma and had been living in California since 1939. Survivors include his former wife, Mrs. Violet Rose, Midwest City; three daughters, Mrs. Lydia Lynn, Eldorado, Ark.; Mrs. Billie Preston, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Jeanne Boal, San Diego, Calif., and six grandchildren. Mr. Rose' body is due to arrive in Elk City by train at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday.
