JAMES) (The Sayre Venture, Sayre, Beckham Co, Ok, 8 May 1902) Mrs. James Allen died Friday, the 25th, and was interred in the cemetery near Wash Saturday. Rev. Donohoe conducted the burial services, and his talk was very impressive. There was a large crowd of sympathizing people present to pay their respects to the young wife. Her coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths, as she was loved by all who knew her. She leaves a child one month old. She was a good, loving Christian woman. Just before she died she called her friends and relatives to her bedside and kissed them goodbye. To her husband, she said: "James, I am happy, aren't you? Let me go, let me go!" and passed away as if going to sleep. Blessed are they that die in the Lord. Father, mother and husband, while it is sad to lose a loving daughter and wife, you should praise the Lord for the evidence you have that Anna is at rest with her Savior. March 15, 1901, the first grave was dug here, and now, there are 15 - over one per month. We can see that death is abroad in the land, and we should all live to die, like Anna, in a Savior's love. (Note: Burial was in "Wash" Cemetery, which later became Carter Cemetery)
