All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Obituary, The Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, Ok, 12 Nov 1925: ATHA, SAMUEL THOMAS Samuel Thomas Atha, died Nov 4, at three o'clock a.m. He was born near Louisville, Kentucky, in the year of 1852, age seventy three years and seventeen days, in early days of youth he with his parents moved to Leoa, Iowa, where he met and married the faithful wife who was with him to the end. There was born to this union 7 children, four girls and three boys, two of whom preceded him in death, T. L. (Dude) and M. S. Those present at the time of death were his wife, Sarah, his sons Lou Atha of Walsenburg, Colo., Cad Atha of Sweetwater, Okla., his daughters, Mrs. Laura Hughes of Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Stella Gleaves of Grimes, Okla., and Miss Lola Atha, who resides at home with her parents. A brother Andy Atha of Cloud Chief, Okla., and Nephew Harry Alta and family of Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Atha celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary on March 15, 1925. They came to their present home 25 miles northwest of Sayre, Oklahoma, Jan. 1, 1901. He was buried in the Brookside cemetery, Rev. Martin of Dempsey, officiating.
