C. Hendrix, died Thursday afternoon, February 18th, at the Hendrix home in this city, after a brief illness from an attack of inflammatory rhumatism (sic). The deceased was 14 years, 7 months and 17 days of age. For some time he had been troubled with rheumatism, and following the close of the public schools at Erick it was decided that Clay should come to Sayre and continue his studies in the public schools here while taking treatment for rheumatism. Soon after coming to Sayre his condition became worse and despite the efforts of his physician and friends death came to relieve him of his sufferings. The deceased was a member of the Baptist church of Erick, and the exemplary life he had lead was attested by his pastor, Rev. H. B. Stickland, who preached the funeral sermon at the Baptist church in this city Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. The casket was covered with wreaths of beautiful flowers, presented by friends of the deceased who with the bereaved relatives, mourn the loss of this young life with such a promising future before him. The remains were laid at rest in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery. Card of Thanks. To the friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our son, brother and nephew, we desire to express our sincere appreciation and thanks. Their many acts of kindness and expressions of sympathy will never be forgotten. Mrs. Lou Bennett and family. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hendrix and family.
