(The Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, Ok, 17 Sep 1931) Illness Fatal to Early County Settler. William A. Brodderick (sic) dies of Diabetis Tuesday morning at Elk City Hospital. William A. Brodderick, 58, Sayre, died in an Elk City hospital Tuesday morning after being seriously ill for two weeks. He had been in ill health for some time suffering from diabetis. Mr. Brodderick was one of the oldest settlers in this county. He resided in Carter before coming to Sayre and was well known in the county and Western Oklahoma. Prior to his illness, Mrs. Brodderick operated the Ezirest tourist park two miles north of this city. He is survived by one son James Brodderick of Sayre, one daughter Mrs. Laura Widle of Carter, two brothers J. T. (should be G. T.) Brodderick, Carter, and J. M. Brodderick, Sayre, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Swetman, Sayre. Funeral services were held at the Carter cemetery Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Carr of Sayre officiating. Interment was made in Carter cemetery. Litteral and Moore were in charge of the arrangements.
