Brown was born in Meigs county, Ohio, June 21, 1840. Died at his home four miles south of Grimes May 8, 1906, aged 65 years, 10 months and 17 days. He was married to Rachel Nelson September 18, 1864. Moved to Ringgold county, Iowa, in 1865, where they resided until seven years ago when he came to Roger Mills county, Oklahoma, and homesteaded the beautiful farm on which he has since lived and died. He leaves a wife and five children. Two children, a son and daughter preceded him to the "great unknown". His wife and children were all at his bedside during his last illness. The funeral was held from the residence on May 10, conducted by the Odd Fellows of Berlin Lodge No. 137, of which he was a member. Rev. D. J. M. Wood, of Elk City, delivered the sermon to a large audience. Interment at the Jamison cemetery.
