BROWN, LOU M.
(13 Jan 1921, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Carmichael returned Sunday evening from an auto trip to
Helena, Oklahoma, where they went last week with five children of John
Brown, whose farm is 9 miles south of this city.
The mother of the children died two years ago and since that time their
father has been in very poor health and unable to care for them, therefore
consented to their being taken to the state home at Helena.
Ola, 12; Katie, 9; Oda, 8; Pearl, 7; and Carl, 2. are the names and ages
of the children.  Ola had been attending school and with Katie playing the
role of "little mother" to the other children.
The unfortunate children were brot (sic) into town on Wednesday of last
week by Mr. Carmichael and under the supervision of he and Mrs. Carmichael
the children were fitted out with new and suitable clothing before
starting to Helena on Thursday morning.
The home at Helena is reported to be in excellent condition and under
supervision of compenent (sic) management.
