CARNEY, NELLIE
(21 Jul 1927, Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Nellie Carney.  Word was received Wednesday morning of the death of Miss
Nellie Carney in an Oklahoma City hospital following an operation which
was welcomed over a week ago.  Shock is attributed the cause of her death
as the operation was considered successful.
Miss Carney is well known in Sayre and was a valued teacher in our public
schools.  Her many friends here offer condolence to the berieved (sic)
family.  At press time details of the funeral arrangements could not be
obtained.

FORMER SAYRE TEACHER DEAD.
Miss Nellie Carney, Formerly in Sayre Schools, Died Tuesday Night.
Word was received in this city yesterday morning of the death of Miss
Nellie Carney, a former teacher in the Sayre schools, at a hospital in
McAlester, where she had been taken from her home at Atoka, Oklahoma, for
an operation for tumor.
Miss Carney taught in the Sayre schools during the past two years and
during her stay in our city made many warm friends, all of whom are
greatly grieved at the news of her death.  The Sayre Board of Education
telegraphed flowers for the funeral.
W. H. Harrison left yesterday to attend the funeral.
