Mrs. Ida Coulson, daughter of J. R. Richardson, was born at Mangum, Greer County, April 9th, 1891. She was married to Earl Coulson December 19th, 1909. Born to this union one son, J. R. Coulson. She departed this life May 31st 1923. She leaves a husband and son, a father and mother, two sisters and one brother to mourn her departure. Two brothers and two sisters have preceeded her to the other world. She was converted at the age of twelve years and joined the Methodist church at that time. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, assisted by Rev. W. R. Gibble of the Christian church. The Odd Fellows and Rebecca lodges did her honor by attending the services in a body. The floral offering was profuse. We laid her remains to rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. Mrs. Coulson had been able to fill her usual position in the Diamond C stores up to a few days before, although in poor health which resulted in her undergoing a surgical operation early in the week, from which she never really rallied, her death coming at 11 o'clock Thursday. Mrs. Coulson was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Richardson of this city, and had spent by far the greater portion of her life in Sayre, and while clerking in the Tapp and Diamond C stores had gained a wide acquaintance among the people of the surrounding country. This acquaintance gave her an unusually large number of personal friends and each and every one of them will join with the people of Sayre in expressing to the relatives their heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement. (7 Jun 1923, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Died. Mrs. Earl Coulson of Sayre, a sister of Mrs. Fred Smith, died May 31, and was buried Friday in the Sayre cemetery. A large number of Erick people attended the funeral. Our sympathy goes out to the bereaved relatives and friends in their hour of sorrow. (7 Jun 1923, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Death of Mrs. Coulson. Mrs. Ida M. Coulson died at the family residence on Fourth street Wednesday, May 30th (sic), after an illness of five days. Mrs. Coulson was desperately ill from the first and all that medical skill could do to save her was in vain. She had grown to womanhood at Doxey and Sayre and was known and loved by all with whom she came in contact. The funeral which was held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon was one of the largest ever held in Sayre and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Mrs. Coulson leaves a husband and little son, 12 years old, besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Richardson, and several sisters and brothers to mourn her untimely demise. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the family in their sorrow. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
