John Homer Day, son of John H. Day and Mary A. Day, was born at Ellston, Iowa, May 1, 1891, and died at the home of his brother, Frank J. Day, in St. Joseph, Mo., December 22, 1913. At the age of ten years, he moved with his mother and brothers to Sayre, Okla., where he lived until two years ago, since that time he has lived in St. Joseph, Mo. Two years ago he accepted Christ as a complete Savior, and at once became a faithful and devoted church worker, being a member of the Christian church. He was a patient and uncomplaining sufferer from that malignant disease, typhoid fever. His mother was with him during his illness and bestowed upon him all the tender care at a loving mother's command, but this, with the best medical skill could not save his life. God was calling and heaven opening. Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Frank J. Day of St. Joseph, Mo., and Lloyd C. Day of Broken Bow, Nebr., as well as a multitude of friends of whom he had many wherever he went. He was laid to rest December 24, 1913, near Ellston, Iowa, beside his father, who had preceded him 22 years ago. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. T. H. Clapp of the Christian church at the home of his brother, Frank J. Day, 506 East Kansas Ave., St. Joseph, Mo. He is sadly missed by his kindred and many friends, and deep are the shadows hovering over them, while love in tears pays homage at his tomb. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
