Dobbs, Pioneer Resident of Sayre, Died in New Mexico. Word reaches this city of the death at Bolen, New Mexico, on Christmas day, of Jas. S. Dobbs, a pioneer resident of this city, and at one time one of the best known men in Beckham county. "Jim Dobbs", as he was familiarly known, was one of the pioneer residents of this city, and at the time when Western Oklahoma was "wild and woolly", he served this city as marshal. He was a big-hearted man, of the frontier type, and made friends of all with whom he came in contact. He went to New Mexico several years since, and for the past two or three years has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Horace Gaither, at Bolen, New Mexico, at whose home he passed away as above mentioned. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
