All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ EWTON, CLAUDE LAFAYETTE (18 May 1911, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Claude Lafayette Ewton, the second son of W. M. and C. H. Ewton, was born Aug. 12th, 1899 (1889), in Parker county, Texas. His parents moving from there to Oklahoma and settling near Doxey; where Claude grew to manhood. Was converted at the age of fourteen and one year later united with the M. E. Church South. Claude, as he was familiarly known, was loved and esteemed by all who knew him, as an honest, upright, moral character on May 12, 1911, at 1:45 p.m., after a week of intense suffering from that awful disease, appendicitis, he quietly passed away surrounded by his loved ones and a host of friends. The funeral was conducted from the family residence at 2 p.m. the following day and his body laid to rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. L. D. Hawkins, Doxey. Card of Thanks. Claude, the 22 year old son of Judge and Mrs. Ewton, living near Doxey, died last Friday after being operated upon Monday before for appendicitis. Claude was a good boy, and was well and favorably known by those living in and around Sayre, as well as some who live in Carter.
