(29 Mar 1923, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Word came in yesterday morning from his home near Doxey of the death at an early hour of W. M. Ewton, one of the pioneer residents of this county, and a man well known to a very large majority of the older residents. Mr. Ewton has been in failing health for some time past, but was able to come to Sayre on Saturday last, but that night was taken with an attack of flu, which developed into pneumonia, resulting in his death at an early hour Wednesday morning. Mr. Ewton was 65 years of age, and leaves a devoted wife, three sons, Oscar of Sayre; Noah and Homer of Texola; and one daughter, Mrs. Clement, of Texola. The funeral services will be held at the Doxey-Sayre cemetery at 2:30 this afternoon, and conducted by Rev. J. C. Morris, of the Methodist church of this city. (5 Apr 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Death of Wm. Ewton. William Ewton, one of the pioneer citizens of Beckham county died at the family residence at Doxey last Wednesday after an illness of three days. Mr.Ewton was in Sayre Saturday, and was stricken with pneumonia Saturday night. He grew rapidly worse until death relieved his suffering early Wednesday morning. Mr. Ewton was one of the best known of the old timers in this vicinity, having come here in the early days, and settled at Doxey. He has helped in building up the community and was always found to be on the side of right. For several years he served as Justice of the Peace of Sayre precinct and was road over seer of Sayre Township for six years. He will be sadly missed in community activities and church work. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Sinie Ewton and three sons, Oscar Ewton of Sayre, Homer and Noah Ewton of Texola and Mrs. Addie Clement of Texola. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. The remains were laid to rest Thursday afternoon at the Doxey-Sayre cemetery, Rev.
