Fuchs, of Buffalo Section, Passed Away on Thursday. Carl L. Fuchs, one of the pioneer residents of the section northwest of this city, died on Thursday last at the age of 75 years interment in the Buffalo cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Ed Taylor of the Buffalo church. Carl L. Fuchs was born in Germany, but came to this country with his parents when five years old, they locating in Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Dorothy Thoney in 1867, remaining in Wisconsin until 1881, when they moved to Texas, coming from that state to Oklahoma in 1896, filed on the homestead 18 miles northwest of this city, on which he has since lived. Mr. Fuchs was one of the earliest settlers in this section of Oklahoma and has been regarded as a progressive farmer, always interested in any project which would tend toward the development of the country, and ready to aid to the full extent of his ability. Mr. Fuchs is survived by his aged wife and nine children, six of his sons acting as pall bearers at the funeral. The children are: Carl G. Fuchs, of this city; Henry E. Fuchs, of Idaho; Mrs. Mary Harkins, of Montana; August Fuchs, of Sayre; Albert Fuchs, of Buffalo; Walter Fuchs of Buffalo; Marcus Fuchs, of Utah; Daniel Fuchs, residing on the old homestead with the mother; and Mrs. Henry Ratliff, of this city. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
