GOOSTREE, ANDREW JACKSON
(17 Sep 1908, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Dr. Andrew Jackson Goostree died Wednesday at the home of his son, T. J.
Goostree, west of Sayre.  He was 81 years and 9 months old.
Dr. Goostree was a native of Tennessee, going from that state to Illinois
in 1861.  In 1903 he came to Oklahoma, and has made his home with his son
since that time.
He began the practice of medicine with 20 years old, and practiced for 23
years.  At that time he lost his sight, and the past 38 years of his life
had been spent in darkness.
He was a consistent Christian, and as long as he was able it was his
greatest delight to attend religious services.
The funeral service was conducted Thursday by Pastor Holmes of the
Christian church, and interment took place in the Sayre cemetery.
