(10 Jun 1926, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Erwin Fonway Greene, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Greene, was born in Woodward county, Oklahoma, November 20, 1907, and passed to the Great Beyond, May 29, 1926, at the age of 18 years, 6 months and 9 days. He came with his parents to Beckham county in February, 1911, where he grew to young manhood, remaining with his parents until last February, when he heard the call of the West, and in company with his cousin, Floyd Kline, went to California, where he held a good position until the day of his tragic death. Erwin was an industrious young man of exemplary habits, possessing those sterling qualities that marked him as a good citizen, and a good son and brother. Erwin's body was laid to rest by the side of his little brother, who passed away a few short years ago. Erwin leaves to mourn and miss him, out of their every day life, his parents, four sisters and brothers: Ella, Tressa, Ida Belle, Julia, Chalmer, J.D., Granville and baby Robert, besides his boyhood friends and classmates. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
