All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ GURLEY, MARY FRANCES (10 Apr 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. C. H. Gurley Was Long Resident of Delhi and Sayre. Mrs. C. H. Gurley died at the family home 3 miles east of Delhi Sunday morning at 10:30 following a lingering illness of six months. Mrs. Gurley was born in Burmingham (sic), Alabama, but moved with her family to Franklin County, Texas, where she was reared. She has been a resident of Delhi for the past 24 years. In 1907 she became a member of the Methodist church and since that time she has been active in all of the work of the church. Mr. and Mrs. Gurley were residents of Sayre for about four years. During that time they purchased a home in Sayre expecting to make it their home. Mrs. Gurley was dissatisfied with Sayre, she wanted to live where she had spent so many happy days. They moved back to the home place near Delhi, where they remained until her death. The deceased is survived by nine children, her husband, two brothers and one sister, besides a host of other relatives and friends. The surviving children are as follows: Alvin Gurley of Sayre; Mrs. Lela Jackson of Hobart; Mrs. Effie Martin of Sayre; Charley Gurley of Delhi; Henry Gurley of Sayre; Hose Gurley of Sayre; Ham Gurley of Delhi; Otis Gurley of Delhi and Addie Gurley of Delhi. The two brothers of the deceased are Jim Jordan of Houston, Texas and Ann (sic) Jordan of Tylor (sic), Texas and the sister, Mrs. Laura Johnson of Corsicana, Texas. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Delhi Monday afternoon at 3:30. Interment was made in the Delhi cemetery.
