(Sayre Headlight Journal, Sayre, Beckham, Ok, 17 Jun 1933): Prominent Beckham Pioneer Is Victim of Paralysis At Home this Morning. Chauncey L. Hammon, 85, pioneer Beckham county citizen succumbed at his home, 1207 north Fourth street in this city Saturday morning at 11o'clock of a stroke of paralysis. He had been in ill health for about five years. Funeral services conducted by Rev. T. N. Weeks, pastor of the First Methodist church will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church. Interment will be in the Sayre-Doxey cemetery. Killough-Hullum mortuary have the arrangements. Mr. Hammon is survived by his widow, a son Garth Hammon and a daughter, Mrs. W. L. Reyburn of this city and by a son, Claude L. Hammon and a daughter Mrs. W. D. Beckwith of Elk City and by a son, Pearl D. Hammon of Mangum. Many grandchildren and other relatives also survive. Mr. Hammon came to Oklahoma in 1900 and homesteaded a farm three miles east of Doxey. He lived on the farm until about two years ago when he moved to this city to be nearer his children. Having high ideals and a genial disposition he made hosts of friends. He was a successful farmer and business man and was one of the prominent early day settlers. CARD OF THANKS.
