All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HANKS, EUGENE HENRY (28 Jul 1955, Thursday, Sayre Sun, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Eugene Henry Hanks, farmer and rancher of Spring Creek died at the Veterans Hospital at Oklahoma City Tuesday after a long illness. Mr. Hanks came to Western Oklahoma in 1905 and settled near Altus. In 1936 he came to the Spring Creek community where he has lived since. He was a World War I veteran and spent one year serving overseas in the United States army. He was born September 15, 1889 at Pottsboro, Texas. On July 5, 1920 he married Nora Merritt at Altus. He was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Hanks of the home address; a son Garland Hanks, Clinton; his father Charles Hanks, Anthony, New Mexico, and three sisters and four brothers and a grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock at the Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Curry officiating. Pall bearers are: Guy Cornelius, Dot Ellison, O. M. Lee, Curtis Cornelius, Henry Lowrance and Charles Tatyrek.
