All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HANKS, GEORGE MILTON (14 Dec 1950, Thursday, Sayre Sun, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nazarene church in Wheeler, Tex., for George Milton Hanks, pioneer county man who died at 11 a.m., Tuesday at his farm near Wheeler, Texas. He was born February 15, 1890, in Springfield, Mo., and was married in 1911 to Mary Alice Reed. He is a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene. They came to Oklahoma in the early days and settled in the Hext community until about five years ago when they moved to a farm near Wheeler. Survivors include Mrs. Mary Hanks, Wheeler; two daughters, Mrs. Naomi Hill, Sayre, Mrs. Evamine Griffin, Pampa; two sons, Willie J. Hanks, Erick, route 1 and Harvey O. Hanks of Checo (sic), Calif.; one brother, Roy Hanks of Oakland, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Eva Hughes, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Jewel Tracy, San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Dora Lane of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Blanche Martin of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Clara Nelson of Hollywood, Calif., and Mrs. Maude Watts of California. Rev. Leo Lawrence, Bethany, and Rev. Robinson will officiated at the services.
