(24 Feb 1930, Monday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Neil Hartpence, Former A. & M. College Football Star Dies Suddenly Of
Heart Attack Monday.
Neil Hartpence, 26, former Oklahoma A. & M. college athlete, son of Mrs.
Elva Hartpence and brother of Everett and D. H. Hartpence of Sayre, died
of a heart attack late Monday afternoon, while walking across a field two
miles southwest of Stillwater.
Rites Held Wednesday.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon at
Stillwater.  The mother and brothers left Sayre Monday soon after learning
of the sudden death and were at Stillwater for the services.
The deceased was an employee of the Conoco Oil company.  He was a football
player of note having played on the high school team and A. & M. teams at
Stillwater.  He is survived by his widow and a small child.
Everett Hartpence, an elder brother, is wholesale dealer for Conoco
products in Sayre.  D. H. Hartpence is also an employee of the Conoco Oil
company here.

SON OF LATE PIONEER THIS COUNTY DIES SUDDENLY.
Neil Iler Hartpence, 26, son of the late W. E. Hartpence, pioneer resident
of this community died suddenly at his home in Stillwater last Monday
following a heart attack.
Mr. Hartpence was well known here and in surrounding country and was
principally raised near Sweetwater where the family once resided before
moving to Sayre some years ago, where two brothers, Everett and Dorland
Hartpence now reside.
