HOLDER, REUBEN CLIFTON
(8 Jun 1911, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Reuben Clifton, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Ruby Holder who
recently moved to this city, passed away Sunday, June 4, at 3:20 p.m.,
aged 21 months and 19 days.
The funeral services were held Monday at the Lone Oak Baptist church,
seven miles northwest of Sayre, and interment took place at the cemetery
nearby.
Little Clifton was gentle and affectionate and always had a pleasant
greeting for everyone, thus making friends and scattering sunshine and
gladness wherever he went.  Though he seemed to suffer intensely at times
he was patient through it all and was called upon to endure but a few days
of suffering.  On Saturday, before departing this life, he seemed to
realize that the time was at hand for him to go.  Bidding his father,
mother and other loved ones present "by-by," and hugging and kissing each
of them, he lifted his little hands toward heaven and seemed to say that
he was going to be with Jesus, where there would be no more sickness,
sorrow or death.  He seemed to beckon his parents and loved ones to "come
on," too, looking at them and pointing upwards, he uttered his little
childish words that were more to be felt than distinctly understood.  Soon
afterwards he became unconscious and did not again rally.
The parents wish to thank their friends and neighbors for their kind
sympathy and aid during the illness and death of their darling.
