Funeral services for Pearl J. King, 40 N 7th Ave (Sayre, Beckham, Ok), western Oklahoma pioneer who died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital, will be held Sunday at the Assembly of God Church with Rev Nath Franks, Rev Lynn Beeson and Rev Jimmie Ford officiating. Born September 30, 1879 in Wise County, Texas, Mr. King came to western Oklahoma in 1907 settling near Carter. In 1923 he moved to the Bulo community where he resided until 1942 and then moved to Sayre. He was married to Kate Griffith in Wise County, Texas, in 1899, who died in 1950. He was married to Mrs. Judia (newspaper misprint remainder of sentence)...He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and of the IOOF lodge, Sayre. His first wife and two daughters preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of the home, three daughters, Mrs. C. A. Criswell and Mrs Elmer Cruze, Sayre; Mrs. Hub Terry, Amarillo, Tex; two sons, Earl of Sayre and Emery of Elk City; 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; three stepsons, Willie Woods, Oklahoma City; M. L. Woods, Sayre and Harley Woods, Amarillo, Tex. Grandsons will act as pallbearers. Committal will be in the Carter cemetery with Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (Note: Pearl J. King married in 1956 to Julia Catherine Ball Woods, widow of Russell C. Woods. She had married on 5 Nov 1902 in old Greer County, Oklahoma to R. C. Woods (1876-1952); Julia died in Dec 1973 and is buried in Carter Cemetery beside her first husband)
