Lauderdale, one of the pioneer residents of all Beckham county, died at his home in the northern portion of this city on Tuesday afternoon, after an illness covering several years. Mr. Lauderdale was born in Texas, June 19, 1858, and thus lacked but a few days of being 62 years of age. He came to Greer county, then a portion of Texas, when a young man, locating on a farm a short distance from Willow, where he resided untill the opening of what is now Beckham county. He made the "run" into Oklahoma, and located a home one mile north of Doxey, where he lived untill twelve years ago, when failing health compelled him to give up farming, and he moved to this city, which has since been his home. Thomas Lauderdale was widely known in this section during the early days, and numbered his friends only by the list of his acquaintances, and today large circle of friends mourn his death and extend sympathy to the bereaved family. He leaves a wife, four sons, Jerry W., Ira G., Connie and Thomas, and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Waddell, to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father.
