(22 Oct 1914, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): A large number of Odd Fellows from Sayre attended the funeral last Sunday of T. E. (sic) LeGrand from his residence in the Buffalo neighborhood. The deceased was seventy-five years of age and a citizen of Beckham county who was universally respected by all. His sudden death Friday, October 16th, occurred as he was driving to Texola with a load of cotton. In company with his son he left home in the morning, each one driving a team. When near Texola Mr. LeGrand's son, who was in the lead, glanced back and found that his father was not on the wagon. He immediately ran back some distance where he found his father in a dying condition. It is believed that he suffered a stroke of paralysis and fell from his wagon. The funeral was attended by a large number of Odd Fellows from Liberty Hill, Erick, Texola and Sayre. Mr. LeGrand represented his home lodge, Erick, at the recent meeting of the Oklahoma Grand Lodge at Tulsa. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
