P. Lowe, died Friday, March 2, after a lingering illness caused by a tumor of the brain. Last April Mrs. Lowe was taken to Oklahoma City where an operation was performed, and for a time it was thought that she would finally recover. Her sight, however, continued to fail until she was almost totally blind and her general health was also impaired to such an extent that recovery was impossible. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Saturday by Rev. Tom Steele, assisted by Rev. J. E. Gwatkin and Rev. C. D. Bates. The remains were laid to rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. Mrs. Lowe was a member of the Methodist church and until her health failed she was active in all church affairs. She came to Oklahoma from Montague county, Texas, in 1909, when she and her husband located near Sweetwater. She leaves beside her husband, two children, a boy and a girl, aged respectively two and four years. J. F. Wiley, of Montague county, Texas, father of the deceased, and Mrs. T. A. Worley, of Slayton, Texas, a sister, arrived a few hours prior to Mrs. Lowe's death. The bereaved husband and children have the heart-felt sympathy of the people of this community. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
