All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* MARTIN, JO ANN ELIZABETH (30 Jan 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services for Jo Ann Elizabeth Martin, 14, who passed away at the family home four and one-half miles north of Sayre at 8:30 o'clock Sunday evening, after an illness of about ten days, were held at the First Methodist Church in Sayre at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. T. N. Weeks, pastor of the church and Rev. J. M. Jones, pastor of New Liberty and Berlin, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Doxey Sayre cemetery, Littrell and Moore funeral directors were in charge. Obituary Miss Joe Ann Martin, daughter of Mrs. C. A. Martin, died at 8:30 p.m., Sunday January 26, 1930, after a short illness. She was born March 26, 1915, and departed from this world January 26, 1930, age 14 years and ten months. She was converted at a tender age and lived a devoted christian life ever ready to do God's service. She seemed to realize that to live a christian life meant a home in heaven where she would be reunited with her father that had gone on before. He was pastor of the Short Creek Methodist church at the time of his death. She was always a good girl even before her conversion. She was ever obedient to her parents. She was captain of the Short Creek Sunday school at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her passing, a mother, Mrs. C. A. Martin, two brothers, Clovis Martin and Flodger Martin of Sayre and six sisters, Mrs. T. A.
