Mr. McGinn had been suffering from stomach trouble for several months when the end came, he was about 65 years old, and was among the early settlers of that section, having resided at Delhi for the past several years. The particulars were not available, but we did learn that the funeral services will be held at Delhi at 11 o'clock a.m. today with interment at the same place. (12 Jan 1928, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Michael McGinn, a resident of the Delhi community, died on January 5th last, and was buried at the Delhi cemetery. His death came after a protracted sickness with great suffering. At his bedside was gathered his entire family. He was nearly 74 years of age. Michael McGinn was born on March 4th, 1855, at Holy Cross, Iowa. In early life he married Frances Kelliher, who survives him. Of this marriage there were born ten children, nine of whom are living, and all were gathered at his bed-side at death. They are E. McGinn, T. H. McGinn, J. F. McGinn, Loretta McGinn and Alice McGinn, all of Delhi, J. McGinn of Binger, Oklahoma, Mrs. D. S. Parkinson, of Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. S. T. Meaders, of Erick, Oklahoma and Mrs. S. S. Baker of Sayre. The McGinn family is one of the pioneer families of Beckham county. They moved here more than twenty years ago, first locating in the Sweetwater community, but later moving to the Delhi community where they have lived for the past fifteen years. Michael McGinn was a communicant of the Catholic church, and belonged to the Sayre Parish. Burial service consisting of a requiem mass, said by Rev. A. Geeraert, was held in the Methodist church at Delhi. Father Geeraert spoke feelingly of the deceased and his family, and from the same pulpit the Rev. G. W. Graham, former pastor of the Methodist Church at Delhi, paid a glowing and most touching tribute to an honored and loved friend. His funeral was attended by the entire community of Delhi, and by numerous friends from the City of Sayre. Such was the life of Michael McGinn. He knew no man as an enemy. He died as he had lived, honored, respected by all. Card of Thanks We sincerely wish to thank those who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our darling husband and father.
