MEARS, IRIS
(5 Sep 1929, Thursday Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. B. W. Mears of Erick died at her home Sunday, September 1 at the
early age of 27, leaving to mourn her death a husband and several small
children.
Miss Iris Porter was born March 9, 1902 and joined in marriage April 22,
1917.
To this union six children were born of which five survive, one having
preceeded her in death; they are Ella Ree, Millie Mae, Jaunita, Nadine and
Melba.
Mrs. Mears was converted and joined the Baptist church at Bigfore, Crosby
county, Texas, in 1918 of which remained a loyal member.  Her life was a
Christian one and her home was like wise.
She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Porter of Pampa,
Tex., four brothers, Delmer, Ollie, Waylen and Herbert, all of Pampa and
five sisters, Mrs. Lena Cox, Kaneto, Tex., Mrs. Alice Aldridge, Borger,
Tex., Mrs. Marie Williams, Pampa, Mrs. Maude Weeks, Lamese, Tex., and Mrs.
Unalee Harding, Denmark, Miss.
Funeral services were held at Erick Monday afternoon with the Rev. Wilson
officiating.  Burial was in the Erick cemetery.  Hullum funeral directors
were in charge.
