(26 Aug 1929, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
Erick Youth Dies Suddenly While On Vacation With Mother.
The death of Martin L. Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Peterson of
this city, was a great shock to his many friends in Erick.
Martin and his mother were attending a family reunion at Gorman, Okla.,
when Martin was suddenly stricken ill.  He was rushed to the hospital,
where he underwent an emergency operation for intestional obstruction,
which later ensued his death.
Martin L. Peterson was born at Erick, Oklahoma, July 26th, 1916; died at
Gorman, Texas (sic), August 17th, 1929 at 2 p.m.
The remains were brought to Erick and funeral services were held at the
Baptist Tabernacle, Monday August 19th, Rev. Gray Carter officiating, with
D. G. Fatheree in charge.
After the funeral services the body was taken to the Erick Cemetery
followed by a very large concourse of relatives and friends, who have the
sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour.
Every business firm in the city of Erick closed during the funeral
services. - Beckham County Democrat.
