(10 Sep 1914, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Death of John Poarch. John Poarch, the sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Poarch, died Wednesday morning at about eight o'clock after an illness of only a few days. While he had been complaining of being unwell for several days yet it was not until Tuesday afternoon that his condition was considered serious, and despite the best efforts of physicians and friends death came to relieve his suffering a few minutes before eight o'clock Wednesday morning. The deceased was a young man of excellent character and one whose friends and acquaintances predicted for him a successful future. He was a pupil in the High School of Sayre, and among his schoolmates there was genuine sorrow and many expressions of sincere regret when the news of his sudden death became known. Services were conducted by Rev. T. J. Means at the home Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock at which time the High School pupils attended in a body. The remains were laid to rest in the Carter cemetery this morning where many friends of the deceased and of the family were present to pay a tribute of respect and love to the life of one whose sudden death has cast a shadow of sorrow over all those with whom he was acquainted. The parents and relatives of the deceased have the sincere sympathy of all in their sorrow and affliction. (11 Sep 1911, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Little Johnnie Poarch, the 11 (sic) year old son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Poarch of Sayre, died Wednesday and his remains were laid to rest in the Carter cemetery yesterday afternoon.
