(13 Jul 1911, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Quinn, living in the east part of town, remains quite sick, and is confined to her bed all the time. Mrs. Quinn received quite a postal shower from friends in Macon county, Missouri, last week, which was a surprise to her and one which she greatly appreciated. Mrs. Quinn was a school teacher for twenty years in Macon county, and has a large circle of friends there. Among some of the cards she received were several from pupils who attended her school some forty years ago, and from their children who also went to her afterwards. (17 Aug 1911, Thursday, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Sarah L. Van Vleet was born in Lenawee county, Michigan, February 26, 1844, moved to Macon county, Missouri, the fall of 1863 and taught school continuously until her marriage to John A. Quinn, March 16, 1882. To this union was born one son, Van Juan, who died in infancy. The spring of 1906 Mr. and Mrs. Quinn moved to their homestead four miles northwest of Sayre, Okla., where they resided until the death of Mr. Quinn in the fall of 1907. After Mrs. Quinn was left a widow she and her step-son kept house together until August 12, 1911, at 7:10 p.m., when she fell asleep in the arms of Jesus, after being a sufferer from cancer three years, having believed in His name in early life, and was formerly a member of the M. E. church. Mrs. Quinn left as sole surviving heir and administrator of her step-son, Eutis Quinn, a son of Mr. Quinn by a former marriage, who extends his heart felt thanks to his many friends who assisted in making his mother's last hours easier.
