B. Rook Died Sunday Roberta, little three-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Rook, died on Sunday afternoon after an illness of little more than one day. While the little girl was sick Saturday it was not until late that night that her condition really became serious, and then medical aid proved unable to cope with the disease. Membraneous croup, so frequently fatal with children, was the trouble. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, conducted by Rev. J. L. Haddock, of Erick, with interment at the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of all Sayre and vicinity in their hour of bereavement. (5 Nov 1920, Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Rook of Sayre, former citizens of Carter, were indeed sorry to hear of the death of their little three year old daughter, who died at that city Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. While the little one had not been well for several days, she was not thought to have been in a serious condition until just a few hours before she died, when she was taken worse, and was found to be very ill with diptheria. The funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of their many Carter friends in their bereavement. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
