(8 Sep 1921, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Word reaches us that Uncle John H. Rudloff, one of Sayre's pioneer residents, died at the hospital at Oklahoma City on Tuesday of last week, and was buried at Fairlawn cemetery (Oklahoma City) on Thursday afternoon. John Rudloff was an early settler in this city, and erected a number of the buildings now standing, among which are the building now occupied by the Owl Drug Store, that occupied by Lee Goddard's Grocery, the residence occupied by County Assessor Inman and that occupied by J. Walter Price. "Uncle John" as he was known to our citizens, had a host of warm friends in this city, and when a few years since he decided to leave Sayre and locate in Oklahoma City he took with him the best wishes of a majority of our citizens, all of whom will sincerely regret the news of his death. He was 81 years of age. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
