Schrader (sic) of the Grimes section, died on Thursday last. Funeral services were held on Friday, with interment at the Doxey - Sayre cemetery (sic). Mrs. Schrader was a pioneer resident of that section and highly respected. (7 Apr 1927, Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. MARTHEA SCHROEDER Mrs. Maretha (sic) Schroeder was born April 22, 1869, in Caldwell County, Missouri. She was married to George Schroeder in 1899 February 14. They homesteaded in Oklahoma in fall of 1901. Two girls preceeded her, one in infancy, and one at age of 3 yr., 6 mo. Dow, age 20 years, is the only living child. Mrs. Schroeder became a member of the church of Christ when young and has lived a true and pure Christian life. She was an excellent wife and mother and always was willing to help and sacrifice for others. She had gained many friends by living a life that was uplifting to every one. She will be missed by her many friends and the church of Christ at Grimes to which she had helped so spiritually and willingly to build and teach the way of Christ to others. We sympathize with the bereaved husband and son, but know that if we follow the example of the pure Christian life that sister Schroeder lived, then we will have no fear to meet death. The floral offering was very pretty. Her many friends helped and worked so faithfully during her illness. Mrs. Schroeder at first has erysipelas, but after her recovery and return from the Elk Hospital other complications set up and it was too late for medical aid. Mrs. Schroeder leaves to mourn her loss, beside a husband and son, five sisters and other relatives. Two sisters were here at the time of her death, Mrs. Ellen Thompson and Mrs. Bertie Firth of Cowgill, Missouri. Mrs. Schroeder died at her home at Grimes at the age of 57 years, 11 mo. and 2 days. She was laid to rest at the Dempsey cemetery (Roger Mills County) March 25th. Iva, the little daughter, who died in December, 1907, was removed March 26 from the Wayland cemetery (Beckham County) to the Dempsey cemetery and placed by the side of her mother.
